Have not looked at big laptops in years-now I'm researching 17" ones-whats good?
I've got a user who has an old Samsung with a 17" screen and he wants to keep that screen size if possible. Now I would shrink to a 15in screen myself, but he is pretty insistent. So I'm trying to find something decent (>=i5, 16GB, 500GB SSD) for around $1500. But as I'm not that familiar with things these days. Start at Dell? HP? Lenovo? It's mostly Office and email, so screen is more important than speed, lugability more important than battery life (so thinner at the expense of battery life is OK). The last issue is that he is in London, so I need something that will work in
Inspirion 5000 (New 17")? The Inspirion 7000 doesn't seem to be available with an SSD. The 5000 at least does the dual drive thing. But then it only has Fast Ethernet? For real?
Well, I assume I should start at the ThinkPad line, but it gets murky from there (and there doesn't appear to be a way to narrow down models based on features-at least not hat I can find). I am only seeing 15" screens, so I would need to convince the user to scale down (which would be great as it opens up choices). Is there any 17in Lenovo at all?
The Envy 17t seems to be about what I'm looking for, but I have no idea about the quality of the machine? But a 17t with dedicated graphics and Windows 10 Pro is about $1200.
