Samsung - Stuck abroad with a locked T-Mobile Galaxy S6. Help!

MetroPCS - www.howardforums.com
Last year I bought a Samsung Galaxy S6 off of eBay. It is a T-Mobile phone. There was no issue activating it on MetroPCS. And I confirmed that the phone was clean with T-Mobile before activating it.

I thought the phone was unlocked so when I came here to Spain on a business trip I went to a local carrier store and inserted the SIM card. Only to find out that the phone is locked. I have been chatting with T-Mobile support but they insist that they cannot unlock the phone because I did not buy the phone from them and I do not have an account with them. They also say that they cannot unlock the phone on the backend and that they can only unlock it through the unlock app on my phone. The problem is I don't have that app on my phone and when I go to the Google Play Store it doesn't let me install it because it is listed as not compatible with my device. I sent the screenshot of this to T-Mobile and they are dumbfounded. They want me to try and do a hard reset of the phone which is practically impossible for me as I'm on a business trip and can't erase all my business email setup or reset the phone right now.

Does anyone have any advice on what I can do? I have been to MetroPCS support but they claim that it is a T-Mobile phone so they cannot unlock it.

Meanwhile I'm scavenging for free Wi-Fi to stay in touch while on my trip.
