Can't find device in fastboot - pdanet installed on windows 8

Can't find device in fastboot - pdanet installed on windows 8

After having no problems with widnows 7 and using adb/fastboot moved over to windows 8 and today felt like swaping to a rom that required desire hboot to be flashed, so I though I would go though and install everything needed to get it working, but 2 problems arose.

1. The official HTC TETHER USB Drivers from HTC's website will not install on windows 8 Pro 64bit. Give's an error of "OS Version Not Supported", tried windows 7 emulation, vista, and even winXP emulation to no avail.

2. After trying to use PdaNet and installing those drivers, only PdaNet works, and using fastboot devices gives me no serial.

Any Suggestions other than not following:

and instead going the slow and painful route of flashing desire dev hboot manually through hboot and reflashing 4ext and then flashing rom?

Sorry forgot to add:

I am using a Desire Z (G2 on Tmobile) Rooted and S-off.

Computer: Windows 8 64bit and Linux Mint 14 64bit
