(POLL) There's not going to be an iPhone 7S - only three 'iPhone 8' models
So I have been thinking lately about the supposed iPhone 7S, iPhone 7S Plus and iPhone 8 models. I believe that Apple will give all three new models the same base name.
An -S edition usually takes the design of the previous generation + internal improvements. But... what the leaks have shown us so far, for all three models, are an entirely new design (glass back, metal band, glass front).
Look at this:
In other words: the 'iPhone 7S' and 'iPhone 7S Plus' have the same design as the 'iPhone 8'.
Look closely, they all three have the same glass rear casing and the same metal band. It's not just 'similar': it looks exactly the same!
That's why I believe that Apple will go for the following naming scheme:
- iPhone 8
- iPhone 8 Plus
- iPhone 8 Pro
Or perhaps they will skip the numbers and go for 'iPhone X', or just 'iPhone'. They might not call the new 5.8" "Pro", it could be called "Extra" or whatever. The point I want to make is: the 'base name' will be the same for all three models.
I also believe that all three models will have the same new features, like wireless charging and a new 'A11' chip. The highlight of the Pro model will of course be the near bezel-less front with OLED display and a focus on AR/VR.
By giving all three models the same base name (such as 'iPhone 8'), Apple will argue that "whatever model you'll get, you'll have a shiny new iPhone 8."
